It’s also the perfect solution for attaching delicate plaster cornices and castings securely to your finished plasterboard walls and ceilings.

Key Benefits for Your Project

  • Superior Adhesion & Initial Grab: Engineered for strength, this adhesive offers excellent adhesion properties, providing a good initial grab that secures sheets and castings firmly in place, even on uneven masonry substrates.

  • High Acoustic Performance: When integrated into a complete wall system, this product contributes to a high acoustic rating, helping you minimize sound transmission for quieter, more comfortable spaces.

  • Simple, Controlled Application: Supplied as a dry powder, it’s easy to mix on-site with water to your desired consistency. Its defined working life of 40–45 minutes gives you ample time for mixing, application, and accurate positioning before the final set.

  • Australian Quality Assurance: Manufactured by CSR Gyprock in Australia to stringent product specifications, guaranteeing a consistent and reliable result every time.

Typical Applications (When and Where to Use)

Gyprock Masonry Adhesive is an essential component for professional tradespeople and serious DIYers undertaking internal fit-outs:

  1. Adhering Plasterboard to Solid Walls: Use to securely fix standard plasterboard sheets directly to internal masonry (brick, block) and concrete walls, eliminating the need for framing or mechanical fixings in certain scenarios.

  2. Fixing Plaster Cornices & Castings: Ideal for installing decorative plaster cornices, roses, and other ornamental castings to existing plasterboard walls and ceilings, ensuring a clean, seamless finish.

How to Use Gyprock Masonry Adhesive

  1. Preparation: Ensure all surfaces (masonry/concrete and plasterboard) are clean, dry, and free of dust, grease, or loose material.

  2. Mixing: Gradually add the dry powder to clean water in a container while stirring until a smooth, lump-free, workable consistency is achieved. Remember the working life is approximately 40–45 minutes once mixed.

  3. Application: Apply the mixed adhesive to the back of the plasterboard sheet or casting using a broadknife or trowel. For sheets on masonry, apply in dabs or continuous beads as per specifications.

  4. Placement: Press the plasterboard or casting firmly onto the substrate. Adjust and hold in position until the initial grab takes effect. Allow the compound to fully cure before proceeding with jointing or painting.
